Jordan Spieth’s 2025 season took a weird turn when he was forced to withdraw from the Travelers Championship.
“I’m good,” he explained afterward. “It was a weird neck spasm thing that just came up, and I just could not get through the round. It was a strange deal. I have a good team here that I work with, and I knew it was going to be short-lived, and it was only a few days.”

The three-time major champion revealed he was already back at full strength in the weeks leading up to the Open Championship. “I have been back to full strength getting ready for The Open Championship next week, our last major of the year, and then the play-offs after that. A lot of big events left, but I have no restrictions, which is great.”
Before the final major tournament of the year, though, Spieth and wife Annie were expecting their third child – at any time. Despite the looming birth of his third child, the star golfer made it clear he wouldn’t be missing the Open.
“Yes, I will be at The Open Championship. I am going to be a bit of a late arrival, but I will be there. Luckily, I played The Open at this course in Northern Ireland six years ago, so I won’t feel like I will have to learn a new place. But just trying to get all the work in before baby comes and make sure everybody is good, and then I will head overseas,” he said.
Well, that baby came just in time as the family announced the arrival of Sully Spieth just a few days before the start of the Open.

“We added a new member to the foursome – Sully Spieth! Everyone is doing great 💙,” Spieth said in a message on Instagram.

Not long later Spieth was on the grounds for the Open Championship at Royal Portrush and received a special gift from the R&A offering a special gift for Sully.
“Big week for dad Jordan Spieth. Little gift for Sully,” a caption of the post on Instagram read.

Spieth and his wife were high school sweethearts who got engaged in 2017, married in 2018 and have since added three children to the family.

“She’s just been that person that said, ‘Whatever you need to do, I’m here to support you, let me know how I can help, let me know when too much is too much, let me know when it’s not enough,” he praised Veret in April 2021 at the Valero Texas Open press conference, per Golf Magazine. “She’s been really unbelievable.”
Spieth will tee off alongside Ludvig Aberg and Viktor Hovland at 9:59 a.m. ET on Thursday, July 17.
