Available to stream on the platform from today (Wednesday 9th July), the Yellowstone spin-off boasts the likes of Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford in the leading roles as Cara and Jacob Dutton respectively.
The second season of 1923 has now aired, with the possibility of a third still hanging in the lurch, so there’s really no better time to get acquainted with the series if you haven’t yet done so.
As well as boasting a starry cast, the series well and truly places you in the ranching drama as we explore another generation of the Dutton family, this time as they face the early stages of the Great Depression, drought and Prohibition.

While many thought Yellowstone was the jewel in Taylor Sheridan’s series crown, our own RadioTimes.com write up of 1923 praises Sheridan’s prowess at sticking an emotional landing.
It reads: “Don’t be surprised if you find yourself overwhelmed, once again, by Sheridan’s ability to stick the landing with his own unique brand of emotionally satisfying gruff poeticism.
“His ability to tug at the heartstrings is an unexplainable law of the universe, and he hasn’t let us down yet.”
If you’re keen to get stuck into the Sheridan Western multiverse, then Netflix UK is quite the destination right now.
As well as the first season of 1923, there’s also 1883, which was Sheridan’s first Yellowstone prequel series and has been lauded as “the writer’s greatest TV achievement”.

There are also the first four seasons of Yellowstone to get tucked into, which you may want to seeing as a spin-off series focused on Luke Grimes’s Kayce Dutton as he joins an elite unit of US marshals in Montana is on the way.
Speaking recently about what fans can expect from the show, Grimes told TooFab: “You will see some familiar faces. I’m excited to do it. It’s going to be year eight for me, playing the same character, which is… who would have thought that I would ever play a character for eight years?
“But, he’s really close to my heart. He feels like a family member, and it would be weird to fully let him go anyway, so I’m glad we get to reconnect.”
