Wimbledon 2025 tennis scores, results and latest updates with Jannik Sinner an injury doubt and Novak Djokovic in action

Wimbledon fan pops champagne cork onto court and is scolded by umpire

A quirky and at times chaotic edition of Wimbledon continues, with one fan scolded by an umpire on Wednesday after popping a champagne bottle cork onto the court.

The incident occurred during a men’s doubles match, as Lloyd Glasspool and Julian Cash played fellow Briton Henry Patten and Finland’s Harri Heliovaara in a quarter-final on No 2 Court.

With Glasspool and Cash trailing 3-2 in the first set, the former was about to strike the ball on his serve when a popping sound was heard in the stands.

Glasspool’s serve went into the net, with one ballkid retrieving the ball and another stepping onto court to retrieve another item: the cork from a champagne bottle.

Grigor Dimitrov injury update

We’ve got an update on the injury to Grigor Dimitrov that forced him to withdraw when two sets up against Jannik Sinner in the last round.

Bulgarian tennis reporter Emil Evtimov has reported that Dimitrov “has suffered a partial tear of his pectoral muscle,” according to Dimitrov’s manager Georgi Stoimenov.

It means he will miss upcoming tournaments in Bastad, Toronto, and Cincinnati but is expected to return in time for the US Open.

Dare I say that’s a better outcome than it initially appeared.

First quarter-final of the day: Swiatek vs Samsonova

Okay, the first match of the day is just 10 minutes away!

Five-time slam winner Iga Swiatek faces 19th seed Liudmila Samsonova on No 1 Court.

Swiatek is a four-time French Open champion and one-time US Open winner, but she’s never reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon or beyond.

Can she change that today?

Yesterday: Brutal Alcaraz ends Norrie’s hopes – and Britain’s

On this occasion, much to the discontent of the punters and union jack wavers on Centre Court, Carlos Alcaraz was in no mood to hang about. Wimbledon’s defending champion had already dropped four sets across four matches, flirting with the idea of a shock exit. But as the sun set over SW19, this was the Spaniard in a hurry. Unshakeable and indomitable.

For British singles ambitions in the post-Andy Murray era? A final farewell. Cameron Norrie was not the left-handed home favourite most expected in the quarter-finals and, for that, we can only give the British No 3 credit for his gutsy run to the last eight, in the wake of Jack Draper’s disappointing second-round exit. But, truth be told, an upset did not look remotely likely on Tuesday evening, with Alcaraz victorious in one hour and 39 minutes: 6-2, 6-3, 6-3.
