Ipswich have rejected Brentford’s £35m offer for winger Omari Hutchinson.
The Bees reached Hutchinson’s relegation release clause after talks on Tuesday but as the offer included payment installments over a period of time – and not the cash up front – it was turned down.
The clause has now expired but Brentford, under new boss Keith Andrews, could return once they have sold Manchester United target Bryan Mbeumo.
Hutchinson, 21, joined the Tractor Boys from Chelsea for £20m last summer after spending 2023-24 on loan at Portman Road, helping Ipswich to the Premier League.
He scored three goals in 31 league games last season but was unable to stop Kieran McKenna’s side dropping back into the Championship.
Ipswich have already sold striker Liam Delap in a £30m deal to Chelsea after he scored 12 goals last season.
