PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Today, we’re bringing you a story from the past as we highlight this day in history.
We’re headed back to July 14, 1968. This one’s for our baseball fans. It’s when Hank Aaron hit his 500th homer.
The home run record breaker’s swing took him from a poverty-stricken resident of Mobile, Alabama.
To the baseball hall of fame in Cooperstown.
Aaron played all 23 years of his career in the majors with the Atlanta Braves.
Including two years with the team in Milwaukee before they moved.
The slugger is best known for breaking the all-time home run record previously held by Babe Ruth and later eclipsed by Barry Bonds.
