Officials in Delaware are warning beachgoers about a swimming advisory is in effect after fecal bacteria was found in the ocean water.

A recreational water advisory was issued for the beach off of Rehoboth Avenue in Rehoboth Beach on Thursday, July 3 after routine sampling found elevated levels of fecal bacteria in the water, officials said.

This advisory was issued to warn beachgoers who are high risk because of compromised immune systems or those with certain medical conditions.

Anyone unsure of the risk is being urged to contact their doctor before swimming at Rehoboth Beach.
