There’s no question that Stephen Curry is one of the greatest basketball players of all time. His elite shooting helped usher in a new style of basketball, and his dominance helped create one of the best dynasties the NBA has ever seen. As a result, Curry has won four NBA championships, made 11 All-Star teams and been voted the Most Valuable Player on two occasions.
It’s no surprise, then, that Curry has been voted as the 10th greatest player in NBA history by Bleacher Report, in it’s latest top-100 players article. The veteran sharpshooter sits one spot ahead of the late, great Kobe Bryant and one spot behind Wilt Chamberlain.
“Billed for so long as the best shooter in league history, Curry has proved to be so much more,” Bleacher Report’s staff explained. “…The accolades speak for themselves. The circumstances under which they’ve come are less vociferous. The Golden State Warriors have been fortunate enough to field numerous generational iterations, but none of them peak or even exist without Steph. His ability to play alongside anyone is scalability beyond measure. Qualitatively and stylistically, he is one-of-one.”
Curry, 37, is yet to show significant signs of aging. This past season, he averaged 24.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 6 assists. He shot 44.8% from the field and 39.7% from 3-point range. If he can continue to produce at his current level and finds a way to add another championship to his resume, he could still make inroads into becoming a top-five player of all time.
Nevertheless, Curry’s current ranking feels fair. He’s an all-time great, regardless of which players we want to put in front of him. Fortunately for Warriros fans, they can still experience his greatness for a few more years, as he doesn’t seem ready to call time on his career just yet.
