BrokenBlade: “It’s tough to play a lot of games back to back, but I don’t think there’s been any fatigue”
Caps, today’s matches looked much more coordinated and cleaner than your play-ins. Were you holding back strategies earlier, or were you just better prepared today?
Rasmus “Caps” Borregaard Winther: “It’s not like we were hiding things. We just needed a warm-up to get ready. We’re still far from where we want to be—we can be a lot stronger. But we’re definitely getting more used to the stage, and we’re excited for our next match.
Canyon said he feels a special bond with you after all your close international matches over the years. Do you have a message for him after this series?
Caps: It’s been fun to play against him for many years at this point. I prefer the first time we met in 2019. It’s been a little tougher since then. I will look to get him back later in the tournament
After a dominant Game 1, Gen.G quickly took control of the series. What do you think went wrong for G2 in the following games, and what lessons are you taking into the lower bracket?
Caps: Game 1 definitely went well for us—we managed to find some early leads and played it quite slow. In the next few games, we fell behind too quickly and couldn’t stabilize. They threw us off our rhythm and disrupted us. For the next series, we’ll play on our terms. If our opponents try to play very fast, we’ll punish it.
BrokenBlade, you mentioned struggling individually in your first series against FURIA. But today, against arguably the best toplaner in the world, you held your own. What changed?
Sergen “BrokenBlade” Çelik: The difference was that I felt like a different player against FURIA—I just struggled. Today, I felt more ready, prepared, free to play my game. It was still hard because they pressured us a lot in all lanes and swapped a few times. But preparation is a big part of why.
G2 has played the most matches at the tournament so far. Do you think the packed schedule affected your ability to adapt and close out the series, even after winning Game 1?
BrokenBlade: It’s tough to play a lot of games back to back, but I don’t think there’s been any fatigue. Even if there was, we got a couple of days off. It’s just the life of a pro player. The schedule was a bit unlucky, but that doesn’t change the fact that we need to win no matter what. The next thing we’ll do is go back home and see what we can do better.
If you had to describe Gen.G’s play today using only one word, what would it be?
