Nikki Haley’s son says naturalized US citizens shouldn’t be allowed to hold public office

Nalin Haley, the son of former 2024 presidential candidate and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, said that naturalized citizens should not be allowed to hold public office.

“Naturalized citizens should not be able to hold public office,” Nalin Haley said during an interview with Tucker Carlson that aired Wednesday. “Growing up here is a big part of understanding the country.”

He also said that dual citizenship should be outlawed and no one should be allowed to serve in another country’s military.

“We should also not allow dual citizenship,” he said. “That’s the stupidest idea. You’re either American or you’re not.”

Carlson asked Nalin his opinion of if American citizens should be allowed to serve in another country’s military.

“Oh gosh no,” he answered. “Forget about it. You can’t do that.”

When Nikki Haley ran for president in 2024, she talked a lot about the importance of Israel and making sure the U.S. always backed the country.

However, Nalin has taken a different approach than his mother.

“Israel is just another country, and if they want to have a better relationship with the United States, they need to stop interfering in our politics,” he said in a previous interview with UnHerd.

He has also been spoken out against the H-1B Visa program.

“We need to stop the myth that all these H1B visa holders are starting companies and creating industries,” he wrote on X last month. “There’s over 700,000 H1B holders and the vast majority are taking very average jobs like tech jobs for cheap that could go to Americans, not starting or growing industries.”
