Meryl Streep and Martin Short were two of the many in attendance for the opening night performance of This World of Tomorrow, Tom Hanks’ new off-Broadway play.

“They were giggling and whispering, and couldn’t keep their hands off each other,” a source tells Globe. “Halfway through the play, she put her head on his shoulder.”

“They were like teenagers at the movies,” the source adds. “It was adorable.”

In photos obtained by Globe, Short, 75, can be seen with his arm around Streep’s shoulder as the Devil Wears Prada star, 76, leaned across him. In others, the pair socialize with those around them, including Wilson, 69, Martin, 80, and his wife Anne Stringfield.

Streep, Short and Martin were also photographed catching up with Hanks backstage of the play at The Griffin Theater in New York City — and the sextet, including Wilson and Stringfield, posed for what appeared to be a couples’ photo.

Short and Streep have long denied they are an item after first sparking romance rumors while looking cozy at the Golden Globes in 2024.

The Canadian actor even insisted he and Streep are “not a couple” and “just very close friends” during an appearance on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast — however, a source previously told Globe that the pair prefer to keep their relationship private.

“It’s not a secret that they’re together, but it’s also not something they want to be forced to address,” a source shared in July.
