Max Holloway has landed in Louisiana ahead of his UFC 318 BMF title fight against Dustin Poirier in just a week’s time.
On July 19, Max Holloway returns to the Octagon for the first time since his brutal KO loss to Ilia Topuria at UFC 308 when he defends his BMF title against Dustin Poirier in the UFC 318 main event.
Ahead of his trilogy fight against Poirier, Holloway has highlighted his greatest rivalry as his key motivation going into this fight, not wanting to lose another trilogy.
And following Topuria’s recent lightweight title win, ‘Blessed’ has some added motivation as he believes he could secure himself a rematch against ‘El Matador’ for the 155lb strap.

Holloway lands in Louisiana after some ‘little scares’
On the lead up to this fight, a lot of the narrative has been surrounding the fact that it is Poirier’s final fight in the sport, as he will lay his gloves down once and for all.
UFC boss Dana White admitted that he put the event together just for ‘The Diamond’, crediting him as an ‘all-time great’.
And with that, he will make his final walk in front of his hometown fans in Louisiana, with the last time he fought in front of the Louisianans being in 2015 when he fought another Hawaiian fan favorite.
Just over a week out from what promises to be a legendary clash, Holloway has landed in Louisiana after what he described as some ‘little scares’.
“What up guys, we’re here in Louisiana, finally after some little scares, you know, some longer lay overs and some thunderstorms stopping us from getting in. We’re all good now, we’re here, we checked in,” Holloway explained in a video on his YouTube channel.
“We’re heading out to get some food, we’re gonna see what Louisiana food is all about, I’m a 155lber now so I can kind of enjoy, so we came up early,” he continued.
Max Holloway credits Justin Gaethje as the hardest hitter he’s ever faced
Throughout his incredible career, ‘Blessed’ has fought some of the greatest fighters in the world, from Conor McGregor to ‘The Diamond’ Poirier, but one sticks out as the hardest hitter he’s ever faced.
Despite Topuria having handed him his first ever KO loss, Holloway has credited Justin Gaethje as the hardest hitter he’s ever faced, stating that he could feel the intensity of ‘The Highlight’s’ shots, and he couldn’t with the Spaniard.
