Molineux News understands that Wolves are set to win the race for Fluminense star Jhon Arias, with the club’s transfer window now springing into life.
Wolves have been linked with a move for Arias over the past week or so.
News of the links to Arias excited Wolves fans, with many feeling as though he would come in and make an instant impact.
There had been suggestions that move had been getting near, with reports surfacing that Fluminense were looking at Marino Hinestroza to potentially replace Arias.
Today, the situation has really progressed, with Molineux News‘ transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey informing us that Wolves are now set to win the race for the Colombia international.

He tells us: “Terms are close to being finalised and the player is ready to move to Molineux.
“He had been of interest to a host of clubs including West Ham United, Everton and Nottingham Forest, but it is Wolves who are now poised to seal a move for the South American.”
Arias – who had dreamed of playing in Europe – is all set to become Wolves’ second signing of the summer, after Fer Lopez joined from Celta Vigo.

So a major developments today for Wolves, with Arias now expected to seal his move to Wolves.
It is a signing that Wolves can be very pleased with, because Arias has really caught people’s attention this year, and most recently at the Club World Cup.
Arias will offer Wolves versatility, as he can play anywhere across the front three, and he also works very hard – a must-have trait for any to succeed under Vitor Pereira.

Quite clearly, he’s someone who can make things happen in the final third, and with Matheus Cunha, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Pablo Sarabia having all left, it was essential for Wolves to land someone of this profile.
Hwang and/or Guedes could leave Wolves
Given the news that Wolves are now close to landing Arias, this could have repercussions for a couple of Wolves players.
Hwang Hee-chan could be affected by Arias joining, given the Colombia plays similar positions.
Hwang has been linked with Birmingham in the past few days, so Arias could be the catalyst for him to secure an exit.
Goncalo Guedes has been linked with Flamengo this summer, and is another player who may now be a potential outgoing.
