A new VR headset apparently isn’t the only thing Valve is planning, with new leaks indicating once again that the gaming giant is working on an updated version of the Steam Controller. Frequent leaker, @SadlyItsBradley on X, recently posted a mockup of what he was told the upcoming Valve Steam Controller would look like when it launches. The updated Steam Controller will deviate from the old design significantly, with the new design supposedly bringing the dual trackpads down to the space between the analog joysticks. The new Steam Controller will also supposedly feature a new feature that would be able to detect how close your hands are to the controller’s handles, although an exact use case for this feature remains a mystery.
A recent post by ubiquitous leaker, Moore’s Law Is Dead, also suggests that Valve is planning a sizeable launch “in around 16 hours” after the time of publication. That would make the launch time sometime around midday EST on November 12. Speculation suggests that this alleged launch might be related to the Steam Frame (also commonly referred to as the Valve Deckard) VR headset that previously leaked. There are, as is always the case with an imminent Valve launch, those Half Life fans who can’t help but hold out hope for Half-Life 3. To be fair, the idea that Valve may reveal Half-Life 3 isn’t entirely unsubstantiated. For one, @Sphechal_Nick on X posted a rumor that suggested that GTA 6 may “have its thunder stolen” by an upcoming game announcement.
