“Landman” isn’t limited to the big city scenes; this is, after all, a show set in West Texas, even though a good portion of it is filmed in Tarrant County.
JACKSBORO, Texas — The “Landman” crews know their way around Fort Worth. Taylor Sheridan’s Billy Bob Thornton-starring Paramount oil drama has filmed scenes downtown, at TCU, at an old body shop on Camp Bowie Boulevard and on the crisp fairways of River Crest Country Club.
But “Landman” isn’t limited to the big city scenes; this is, after all, a show set in West Texas, even though a good portion of it is filmed in Tarrant County and surrounding areas.
This week, Sheridan and Co. hit the road to Jacksboro, about an hour northwest of Fort Worth. And it appears Jacksboro will be a stand-in for Odessa, or at least the area around a fictionalized Odessa Police Department.
The Jacksboro newspaper posted several pictures of crews getting ready for filming Wednesday, preps that included unloading several “City of Odessa” police cars and changing out the signage on the Jacksboro Police Department to Odessa.
Filming was scheduled all day Wednesday, and Highway 380 between Main Street and East Street was closed as a result.

“Landman” Season 2 is expected to premiere on Paramount+ in November of this year, sticking to last season’s timeline. And they’ve apparently been busy lately. Aside from the Jacksboro filming, “Landman” also shot more scenes in Fort Worth in late June, closing downtown streets and some parking. The Worthington Hotel was among the downtown Fort Worth scenes “Landman” filmed last month.
“Landman” is the latest North Texas-based project for Sheridan, who grew up in Fort Worth. His hit series “Yellowstone” was also filmed, in part, in North Texas, even though the show was set in Montana.
