Jules Hudson opens up on family deaths in Yorkshire Farm

In a recent episode of A Yorkshire Farm, which Hudson presents with Helen Skelton, he took to the Forest of Dean, which he admitted has been his go-to place for peace and serenity.

Walking through the forest, the 55-year-old presenter admitted he’s had a “difficult year”, and had decided to take to the woods for some “therapy”.

“This has been quite the year for me in one way or another,” he said.

“My father died almost a year to the day, today, and I don’t think I’ve ever really quite come to terms with that, or really grieved for him.

“One of the last times I came here I had my youngest Labrador, Teddy, with me.

“Teddy’s now no longer with us either, we’ve lost both of them, and yeah I found myself today almost looking around for him.”

The Escape to the Country presenter later found an old oak tree, which he said symbolised hope for the future.

“[It’s] older than I’ll ever probably live to be. And yeah it’s lost a few branches and some limbs over the years, but it’s still striving upwards towards those blue skies and clouds above,” he shared.

“Isn’t that a great metaphor for life? Regardless of adversity, you just keep going.”

Hudson previously opened up about his father’s “heartbreaking” decline before his death.

A military reservist as well as a busy presenter, he said he keeps up his fitness in order to keep up with his son, who is almost 10, and to ensure he can pass the annual fitness test.

The presenter told the paper that it was “heartbreaking” to watch his dad’s health decline.

He described his late father Clifford as a “great guy”, telling the Express that he “loved him to bits”, and spoke of how he had “made the mistake” of trying to put his dad’s death to the back of his mind, which left him finding himself being caught unaware by emotions when he least expected it.
