HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) – Hugh F. Keefe, a legendary criminal defense attorney, passed away on Friday, according to Lynch, Traub, Keefe & Errante law firm.
LTKE Law described Keefe as a dear partner, mentor, and friend who helped shape the law and the lives of those around him.
It is with profound sorrow that LTKE Law announces the passing of our esteemed and dear partner, mentor, and friend, Hugh F. Keefe.
Hugh was not only a remarkable attorney, but a true legend in the legal community. His brilliance in the courtroom was equaled only by his wit, generosity, and steadfast commitment to justice. Over the course of his extraordinary career, Hugh not only shaped the law in Connecticut, but also the lives and careers of all of us who had the privilege of working alongside him. His achievements and contributions to the legal profession are far too numerous to list, but their impact will be felt for generations.
Whether advocating for his clients, mentoring young attorneys, or inspiring colleagues with his sharp wit and commanding presence, Hugh left an indelible mark on our firm, our hearts, and on the profession we cherish. His spirit, his lessons, and his extraordinary example will continue to guide us in the years to come.
We honor his memory with deep respect and lasting gratitude. Funeral services will be announced at the discretion of the Keefe family. LTKE Law will honor Hugh’s memory and legacy at a separate time, to be announced.
The New Haven Police Department extended their condolences to Keefe’s family, friends, and colleagues.
“The goal of our justice system is to ensure that everyone is treated fairly and impartially under the law. As a criminal defense attorney, we were usually on different sides of cases from Mr. Keefe. However, his rigorous defense of his clients ultimately helped us, and the judicial system as a whole, improve and move closer to that goal. For that, we thank him. Rest in peace,” wrote New Haven police.
