Heavy rain, gusty winds in the forecast Wednesday | Weather Impact Alert

There’s a chance of downpours, thunder and gusty south winds around the region until 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

PORTLAND, Ore. — It’s shaping up to be a wet start to November around the Portland metro area. Rain is expected to be heavy at times, with gusty south winds on Wednesday, prompting KGW to issue Weather Impact Alert days. The alert ends at 7 p.m.

Heavy downpours, possible thunder and gusty south winds in the Willamette Valley between 30-40 mph are expected, at times, though out Wednesday until the evening hours. Lightning strikes have mostly been confined to areas along the northern Oregon Coast.

According to the latest forecast, wind and rain are not expected to be as significant on Thursday, KGW Meteorologist Matt Zaffino said. There may be a few wind gusts of 23-30 mph Thursday afternoon, but they will be brief.
