Elko Tabbed George Munger Coach of the Year Award Semifinalist – Texas A&M Athletics

PHILADELPHIA – Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko has been named a semifinalist for the George Munger College Coach of the Year Award, the Maxwell Football Club announced Wednesday.

Elko has guided Texas A&M to a 10-0 record, the program’s best start since 1992 and its first 10-win season since 2012. The Aggies are one of just three undefeated FBS teams and have surged to a 7-0 mark in SEC play for the first time in school history. Texas A&M also leads the nation with a program-record three road wins over AP Top 25 opponents, defeating No. 8 Notre Dame, No. 19 Missouri, and No. 20 LSU.

Defensively, the Aggies rank first nationally in third-down defense (.244) and sacks (38.0). On offense, they allow the fewest tackles for loss per game (3.0) and stand 14th in scoring offense (37.1) and 16th in total offense (464.1). Texas A&M has also won the time-of-possession battle in seven straight games and has outscored opponents 103–30 in the third quarter during its undefeated run.

In two seasons under Elko, the Aggies have posted an 18-5 overall record, including 12-3 in conference play, and are 11-2 at Kyle Field. Texas A&M is also 14-0 when leading at halftime.
