Eagles’ DB Cooper DeJean names the toughest wide receivers to face

Cooper DeJean is one of the NFL’s top players and is now an avid dog lover. DeJean was a Defensive Rookie of the Year finalist and one of the Top 100 players in the NFL entering the 2025 season. Philadelphia’s Swiss Army Knife is one of the most popular players in the league, and an avid dog lover.

Earlier this summer, during Eagles‘ training camp, in an episode of Days Off, presented by Hills Pet Official, Whistle followed DeJean, who loves to prioritize quality time with Mav, as the All-World cornerback makes sure he gets the essential nutrients he needs to live a happy and healthy life.

Fast forward three months, and Philadelphia is 8-2 and preparing for a monster matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. Before the Eagles returned to practice on Wednesday, DeJean sat down with The Eagles Wire for a discussion on Maverick, along with his evolution into the best Nickel cornerback in the NFL. DeJean will play in his 27th career NFL game on Sunday, and he’s faced some talented wide receivers.

Asked who his toughest cover was since entering the league, DeJean highlighted two former LSU teammates and perennial All-Pros.

Outside of our guys in practice, I’d say, I’d say probably Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson, those guys, two really talented receivers. Probably the toughest guys that I’ve had to line up against thus far.

DeJean was asked to elaborate on why he came to that conclusion.

Both really talented know how to get open. Have a good feel for the game. They’re good after the catch too, so I’d probably say those two guys.

In the win over Minnesota, Philadelphia held Justin Jefferson to five catches for 79 yards. Last season, the Eagles allowed nine catches, 54 yards, and a touchdown to Ja’Marr Chase. The Eagles won both games.

This season alone, DeJean has faced Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Puka Nacua, Davante Adams, Emeka Egbuka, Courtland Sutton, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and the Packers foursome of pass catchers. It’s high praise from DeJean and gives some indication of just how talented those two players are.

You can hear DeJean’s assessment of the two pass catchers below.
