PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – After a warm night, temperatures rose quickly, and it’s turned into a hot afternoon. Luckily, it’s just one hot day. We should top out around 93-95° in the next couple of hours. There is no significant push of cool marine air this evening, so it’ll be another warm night for those without air conditioning.

Portland’s Forecast(kptv)

An onshore surge of cooler marine air begins Tuesday, capping high temperatures about 5-8° cooler than today. We’ll most likely stay in the 80s. More marine air floods inland tomorrow night for areas of morning clouds then afternoon sun Wednesday

Portland’s Forecast(kptv)

Temperatures return to normal from that point through Saturday with highs right around 80° each afternoon and lows in the 50s. The marine layer shouldn’t be thick enough for drizzle inland during this time. Many would consider Wednesday through the weekend just perfect summer weather in the Pacific Northwest.

Portland’s Forecast(kptv)

High pressure likely weakens the onshore flow for a thinning marine layer NEXT week; 90° afternoons may return. We have entered our typical warm/dry summer weather pattern with no sign of cool/wet weather systems.

🎇FOURTH OF JULY (FRIDAY)

Independence Day is looking comfortably warm with highs in the low 80s. We’ll see mostly sunny skies with a few passing clouds from time to time… Perfect for spotting some fireworks. Remember to check local burn bans as a large section of the state is under moderate to severe short-term drought.

If you are younger than 30 or so, you haven’t experienced a “wet” 4th of July. The last time we sat in drizzle watching fireworks west of the Cascades was in the late 1990s!

Independence Day Stats(kptv)

The last two years were hot in the afternoon, but as noted this year will be much better.
