Charlotte Flair hopes to transition back to being a babyface eventually.
During Flair’s appearance at WWE World in Las Vegas, she revealed that she filmed a horror movie during her hiatus from WWE last year. She also mentioned loving the chance to play a villain again, but how does she feel about being a good guy in WWE again? Or rather, how does she feel about some fans still cheering her despite being positioned as a heel?
She answered that question when she spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard during WrestleMania 41 weekend. Charlotte said that the reaction to her second Royal Rumble win showed her that it’s hard to get sympathy when you’re always winning.
Charlotte Flair says it’s hard to gain sympathy when you’re a perennial winner
“Before I got injured, I was really in a groove being a good guy. [I] really enjoyed it,” Charlotte Flair admitted. “I was really getting that ‘good guy reaction’ on live events. And it was like the first time in my career that I felt like comfortable as a good guy. I just went with it, I loved it and I was digging it.
“Then I got hurt and when I came back, and how I came back,” Flair continued. “Obviously winning the Rumble twice isn’t like — and I don’t mean this in a bad way — but you don’t want the Yankees to always win, you know what I mean?” she explained. “So that is harder to gain that sympathy, that good guy feel.”
Despite her current position, Flair hopes to go back to playing a fan favorite for a very important reason: the fans who cheer her.
“But I do hope later down the road that I can transition back into that because I really do enjoy seeing the kids,” Flair said. “And that’s what it’s all about, right? It’s the fan interaction, and if it wasn’t for you guys, we’d be out of business.”
