Organizers are getting ready to kick off the Frisco Freedom Fest on Thursday night.
The two-day festival will be at a new location, Kaleidoscope Park, on Thursday, July 3 and return to Simpson Plaza on Friday, July 4.
NBC 5’s Ryann Jones reports from the Frisco Freedom Fest kicking off the Fourth of July festivities. Clouds over North Texas helped keep temperatures cool enough to enjoy the events.
NBC 5 and Telemundo 39 are proud sponsors of the annual Independence Day event, which is celebrating over 20 years this year. Organizers say as Collin County grows, the event gets bigger and better.
“As our city grows, it’s really fun to still have that hometown vibe and feeling. I think you July 4th and Freedom Fest always brings that back to us and kind of grounds us in this festival moment,” said Michelle Norris, Cultural Affairs Manager for Play Frisco. “Having it in the two different locations is fun, too. It spreads the event across the city.”
