LYNCHBURG, VA. – Liberty Flames Head Baseball Coach Bradley LeCroy has announced the addition of Keller Bradford as an assistant coach. Bradford will serve as the Flames’ pitching coach and assist in all aspects of the Liberty baseball program.

Bradford joins LeCroy’s staff after four seasons at Southern Miss. Bradford, a Golden Eagles alum, spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach working with pitchers while serving as the program’s Director of Player Development/Operations for two seasons. Southern Miss received an NCAA Regional Berth in each of Bradford’s four seasons in Hattiesburg and hosted a Super Regional in 2022 and 2023.

His save total ranked No. 10 nationally and also tied for fifth in a single season in the school history.

In his first season working with the Golden Eagles’ pitchers, Southern Miss posted a 43-23 record as pitchers Billy Oldham and Niko Mazzo were selected to the Sun Belt All-Conference team. Oldham was a first-team selection, while Mazza was named to the second team. In addition, Southern Miss reliever Allen finished No. 12 in the country in victories with 10, and the Golden Eagles’ strikeout-to-walk ratio of 2.63 ranked as the 15th-best in the country.

Bradford returned to his alma mater as the program’s Director of Player Development/Operations in 2022 and 2023. Southern Miss won its NCAA Regional and hosted an NCAA Super Regional each year. Through four seasons in Hattiesburg, Bradford saw ten pitchers drafted or sign with MLB teams, as well as Middleton and Allen expected to go in this year’s draft in the coming weeks.

Before returning to Southern Miss, Bradford spent two seasons at Hinds Community College in Raymond, Miss. Bradford served as the team’s pitching coach and recruiting coordinator. In his first season at Hinds, seven pitchers from his staff signed or committed to move on to play at the four-year level, with five of them moving on to the NCAA Division I level. Hinds had a 2.20 ERA, good for second in the nation according to the NJCAA, while only allowing 70 hits in 94 innings pitched, good for 10th in the nation according to the NJCAA.

In 2021, Bradford helped lead Hinds to a 25-16 record, and his pitching staff posted a 4.25 ERA, which ranked No. 10 in the NJCAA. His squad also registered 363 strikeouts with only 164 walks. That staff had nine pitchers sign at four-year schools, with seven going to Division I institutions. Before his time at Hinds, Bradford was the pitching coach at Mississippi Delta Community College. While at Mississippi Delta, he coached seven pitchers who moved on to the four-year level, with four of them being NCAA Division I signees.

Also, Bradford spent the summer of 2019 coaching some of the premier collegiate talent in the country as the head coach for the Upper Valley Nighthawks in the New England Collegiate League. The Nighthawks finished 24-20 during Bradford’s first stop as a head coach.

Bradford started his collegiate playing career at Hinds in 2014, reaching the National Championship in Enid, Okla. As a sophomore, Bradford was a part of the 2015 MACJC State Championship team, finishing the season with a school-record 43 wins.

In 2016, Bradford transferred to ULM, where he pitched 48 1/3 innings in relief while making 35 appearances, which are the second most in program history.

Bradford transferred to Southern Miss and sat out the 2017 season due to a shoulder injury that resulted in surgery. As a senior, he threw 30.2 innings in 23 appearances with a 3.52 ERA while helping the Golden Eagles to another CUSA Title by notching a win in the Conference Tournament Championship game.

Academically, Bradford graduated with honors from Hinds and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Also, he was selected to the Honor Roll while at ULM and at Southern Miss. Bradford graduated in 2018 from Southern Miss with a bachelor’s degree in sport management as well as a master’s degree in sport management in May of 2021.
