Brad Pitt is leaning on girlfriend Ines de Ramon during a holiday season that brings up mixed emotions for the Oscar winner.
“The holidays are always a more emotional time for Brad,” a source exclusively tells PEOPLE, speaking to the A-lister’s complicated relationship with his six children with ex-wife Angelina Jolie. “With some of the older kids distancing themselves and dropping Pitt from their last name, of course it adds another layer of sadness.”
The source adds that Pitt, 61, “has always wanted to be a devoted father and that’s never changed.”

“The reality is that the holidays can be difficult when things are strained with his children, no matter what else is going on,” the insider says.
Pitt, whose mother Jane Pitt died in August, has found steady support in his relationship with de Ramon, a jewelry industry executive. “At the same time, he feels very grateful to have Ines in his life,” the source shares. “Her support and love mean the world to him.”
In Los Angeles, Pitt has stayed busy filming The Adventures of Cliff Booth, reprising his Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood role with director David Fincher and screenwriter Quentin Tarantino. “Brad’s been on the ground and is extremely hands-on with the project,” says another source. “He shows up early, is super focused, energetic and fully invested in the movie.”

The Fight Club actor finalized his divorce from Jolie, 50, in December 2024, bringing an end to more than eight years of legal proceedings. Jolie filed to dissolve their marriage in September 2016. The former couple share six children: Maddox, 24, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17.
Shiloh first filed to drop “Pitt” from her last name on her 18th birthday in May 2024. Shiloh isn’t the only child of Jolie and Pitt to appear to go by a different name. In the Playbill for the musical The Outsiders, which Vivienne helped mom Jolie produce, the teenager is listed as “Vivienne Jolie” instead of “Vivienne Jolie-Pitt,” PEOPLE confirmed at the time. It is not clear if Vivienne has also legally changed her name.
In November 2024, when Zahara was joining the Mu Pi chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at her university, Spelman College, the former couple’s eldest daughter introduced herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie,” a video shared by Essence showed.
Pitt and de Ramon — who have been dating since 2022 — recently attended the afterparty for George Clooney’s Jay Kelly together. In October, a source told PEOPLE that Pitt and de Ramon were “fully living together” and had moved into a new home.
“Brad is really including Ines in all his travel plans, and when they are home, they just relax together,” that source said at the time. “They are really making their home into a home.”
