Bowl projections as ASU, Arizona enter Territorial Cup week

Arizona State and Arizona are both bowl eligible entering the Territorial Cup for the first time since 2017, and the Sun Devils’ conference title hopes are still alive.

ASU could still win the Big 12 title, but it needs to do its own part by winning on Friday before getting with some extra losses by other teams in the mix.

If the Sun Devils miss out on the playoff, they’ll join Arizona in a traditional Pac-12 bowl assignment for the final year. Going forward, they’ll be under Big 12 assignments after the old Pac-12 teams remained tied to the old league’s games in 2024.

While there is overlap in one bowl — Alamo Bowl — most will be new. Those include the Pop-Tarts Bowl, Texas Bowl, Liberty Bowl, Independence Bowl and Phoenix’s Rate Bowl played at Chase Field.

ASU played in the Peach Bowl last season, which will be a CFP semifinal this season after it was a quarterfinal a year ago. Arizona’s last bowl appearance came when it won the 2023 Alamo Bowl.

Here’s a look at where experts are projecting them to play their postseason games:
