CHICAGO — Adrian Houser’s mound excellence for the White Sox continued on Wednesday afternoon, as he allowed one run over seven innings in leading the South Siders to a 2-1 victory over the Blue Jays at Rate Field. Toronto had its 10-game winning streak ended, while the White Sox (31-62) ended a three-game skid of their own.
Houser gave up singles to Nathan Lukes and Bo Bichette to start the game but pitched out of that trouble via a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. double play grounder. The White Sox turned three double plays behind Houser, with rookie shortstop Colson Montgomery being involved in all three, including a twin-killing started by first baseman Tim Elko on an Addison Barger grounder to end the sixth and get Houser out of a first-and-third, one-out situation.
Edgar Quero’s run-scoring double and Lenyn Sosa’s run-scoring single sparked a two-run fourth, accounting for the White Sox offense.
