Gavin Casalegno’s whirlwind romance and marriage to Cheyanne King just might be one of the best-kept TV world secrets. Some might say it was the hard launch of the century.
Last November, the star of The Summer I Turned Pretty shocked fans of the show and his nearly seven million Instagram followers when he announced his marriage to King—which was also the first time he confirmed the pair’s relationship. A series of whimsical wedding photos showed the couple looking endlessly in love and excited about their new chapter.
Casalegno appears to be a man of commitment, having previously dated fellow actor Larsen Thompson for more than six years. But the couple reportedly parted ways in 2022, leaving a single Casalegno to fall head over heels with his now-wife seemingly a year later.
Taking a note from Jennifer Aniston’s book, Casalegno is all about keeping his personal life personal. “I definitely have just learned to be more private, which is super-interesting because I’m always out in public,” he told Shondaland in 2023, per People. “I had to really learn to navigate my own privacy and well-being.”

She works as a registered nurse.
King graduated from Baylor University in May 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. Celebrating the milestone with a graduation Instagram post at the time, she wrote: “What an honor it has been to endure this journey with the Lord and be the first in my family to graduate college!” She added, “I’ve learned so much in the last four years and am so thankful to be graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing!”
A few months later, she celebrated passing her board exams to become a registered nurse.
Around the same time, in a June 2023 interview with Cosmopolitan, Casalegno seemed to hint that he wasn’t interested in dating anyone who is drawn to the limelight. “I think I would prefer dating someone who isn’t in the social media space at all,” he said. “I think that would lead to a lot less problems, to be blunt!”
It seems like King is exactly the woman he was looking for!
She loves to travel (especially with Gavin).
King’s Instagram page is full of travel content from her trips all over the world. She has posted everything from get-ready-with-me videos in a cabana in Hawaii to images of her sailing on the open waters in Thailand. But the young nurse doesn’t appear to be traveling alone.
Gavin has made quiet appearances on King’s Instagram as far back as September 2023. In one photo shared at the time, the two sit on a rock in matching black swimsuits, with their back toward the camera as they look out to the jungle in front of them. King captioned the post, “I love Asia.”
The couple hard-launched their marriage.
On November 12, 2024, the actor shocked his The Summer I Turned Pretty fan base when he announced his marriage to King with a series of bliss-filled photos from their wedding ceremony. In a joint Instagram post, the new Mr. and Mrs. captioned their first wedding carousel, “FOREVER CAPTIVATED BY YOU🕊️.”
The couple followed up their original announcement with three more joint posts capturing everything from the wedding ceremony to intimate photos of their first look and reception. Two even poked fun at the surprise element of their relationship, captioning a series of photos, “Best Kept Secret.”
The whimsical wedding appeared to be a fanciful affair, filled with bright florals, sparkling string lights, and the glow of candles amid a heavenly mountain backdrop.
After the wedding, the couple ventured to the Maldives for their honeymoon. While the actor shared a number of photos of himself posing in the crystal-blue waters, King made an appearance in a reel he shared on November 30. A snap showed her walking on the beach in a yellow corset top and maxi skirt, while another showed her and Casalegno sharing a kiss on the beach.
She’s supportive of his career.
In April, King stood by the actor’s side at a promotional event for his California clothing line, Kai Lo. There, the pair posed for photos together while rocking some of the apparel.
Speaking to Page Six at the event, the actor reflected on the couple’s first year of marriage. “A lot of time, people say the first year of marriage is the hardest, but being able to work on Kai Lo and the passion projects that we have actually made it really enjoyable and has helped us get on the same page creatively,” he told the outlet.
“We just had a blast,” he continued. “You can’t take it too seriously. The second you do, is when all the joy gets sucked out of it. So we’ve really just been trying to enjoy ourselves and make the most of it.”
She’s moving to Thailand… temporarily.
In a post from earlier this week, King seemed to reveal that she might be taking some time away from Casalegno. Kind of. In the video shared to Instagram, the Baylor graduate shares that she is moving to Thailand for two months, joking that the move is a “whole new level of spontaneous.” Of course, Casalegno makes an appearance in the video. The two hold hands while walking through a palm tree-lined path.
While the actor recently started his SITP press tour, it seems like he’s also making time for new adventures with his wife.
