Authorities arrest Florida family in connection with father’s homicide

Shocking Update: Three family members linked to the murder of a Florida man in July 2021 have been apprehended, according to authorities.

The Dixie County Sheriff’s Office received a report from Cindy Rainey, the wife of David Rainey, on the morning of July 25, 2021, stating that her husband was missing.

The Rainey couple and their family, who hailed from Flagler County on the other side of the state, were on a vacation in the Town of Suwanee when the 54-year-old man vanished.

In response, the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office initiated a missing person’s investigation and later that evening, discovered David Rainey’s lifeless body in a canal behind the rented residence.

Medical authorities determined that Rainey had sustained multiple stab wounds to his chest and had been dumped in the water following his demise. Consequently, his death was pronounced a homicide.

More than two years later, three members of Rainey’s family were arrested in connection with his murder.

In an operation carried out on October 25, 2023, Dixie County investigators, aided by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, apprehended Cindy and Bailey Rainey in Bunnell, Florida.

The investigators then proceeded to Orlando, Florida, where they collaborated with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office to arrest Jack Rainey.

All three suspects have been charged with evidence tampering. The sheriff’s office did not disclose whether any of the suspects face murder charges.

The Dixie County State’s Attorney’s office has yet to respond to Fox News Digital’s inquiries regarding the charges.
