ATP Los Cabos Day 2 Predictions Including Mannarino vs Duckworth

Day 2 brings lots of exciting tennis at the ATP Los Cabos Open as eight first-round matches are scheduled. Adrian Mannarino and Yunchaokete Bu are the highlight players in this article. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for every match on the slate. But who will advance to the next round?

ATP Los Cabos Day 2 Predictions

Tristan Schoolkate vs Yibing Wu

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Tristan Schoolkate has yet again played and won a lot of matches this season at the Challenger Tour, but has failed to transition smoothly at this level. He has shown promise on this surface and will be looking for a breakthrough week. Yibing Wu is trying to regain his form after injuries and did well to qualify for the main draw here. He is looking for his first tour-level win of the season, but Schoolkate’s big serve could make this match close.
Prediction: Wu in 3

Nishesh Basavareddy vs Nicolas Mejia

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Nishesh Basavareddy showed a lot of promise at the start of the year, reaching the semifinal in Auckland and pushing Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open. However, he is on an eight-match losing streak on the tour-level and desperately needs some match wins. He plays his best tennis on hard courts and should be able to at least win the first round here. Nicolas Mejia qualified to the main draw without dropping a set, but he is playing a much better player here.
Prediction: Basavareddy in 3

Yunchaokete Bu vs Alan Magadan

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Yunchaokete Bu’s season hasn’t gone according to his potential as he hasn’t won a Tour-level match since March. He is on a nine-match losing streak and will be looking to bounce back this week. He has a big game, which will suit the quick conditions of Los Cabos. Alan Magadan is making his ATP Tour debut after doing extremely well in the qualifiers. This is a big moment for the Mexican, but I can’t see him getting much out of this match.
Prediction: Bu in 2

Adrian Mannarino vs James Duckworth

Head-to-Head: Mannarino 3-1 Duckworth

Two-time Los Cabos Open quarterfinalist Adrian Mannarino is playing here for the first time since 2018 and will be hoping for a winning return. He is past his prime and has struggled to win matches this season with a win-loss record of 4-8. However, some recent success on grass suggests he is playing better and should be a threat this week if he wins a couple of matches. James Duckworth knows how to play on hard courts, but his season has been even worse. The Frenchman has dominated this matchup, and I expect the same this time too.
Prediction: Mannarino in 3
