Colts QB status vs Texans

  • The team and Jones have not disclosed the specific details of the injury.
  • Jones first appeared on the injury report last Thursday after feeling something in his calf area.
  • Despite the injury, Jones played all 51 snaps against the Chiefs and is not expected to be limited.

INDIANAPOLIS — The Colts continue to say the fibula injury that Daniel Jones is battling isn’t an injury that’s hampering the team’s starting quarterback significantly.

Jones will be listed as limited on Wedenesday’s injury report, an estimated practice report because the Colts are holding a walk-through, a common practice by NFL coaches to ease back on practices as the season gets into the final months.

But Indianapolis is not worried about the quarterback’s availability.

“He’ll be good to go this week,” Indianapolis head coach Shane Steichen said.

Neither the Colts nor Jones have revealed the specifics of the quarterback’s injury.

“It was just something that was hanging over, and I realized it last week,” Jones said. “Been trying to get treatment and make sure I’m in the best spot I can be.”

Jones initially appeared on the injury report last Thursday.

He was a full participant in practice on Wednesday, then felt something in his calf area at the start of practice Thursday. When the Colts examined the injury further, they realized it was his fibula.

“Something I felt last week,” Jones said. “Tough to say exactly when, but it’s something I felt last week, I looked at. Been really good working with the trainers here and making sure we’re ready to go, we’ve got a plan.”

Jones played all 51 snaps against the Chiefs.

From the sidelines, it looked like Jones was a little less aggressive on the run while picking up 16 yards on three carries, but the Colts have been adamant that the injury has not affected the way he plays at all.

“Just play,” Jones said. “When you’re out there, you can’t afford to be thinking about anything like that.”

Indianapolis does not expect Jones to be limited the rest of the week.

“I’m all good,” Jones said. “I’ll be ready to go on Sunday.”
