Iowa with a 9-0 spurt

Tyler Tachman

The Hawkeyes scored nine unanswered before Grand Canyon finally put an end to the run with a bucket. Really nice response by Iowa after a sluggish start. The Hawkeyes lead 17-15 with 7:46 to go in the first half. Isaia Howard has given Iowa a boost off the bench and has a team-high six points.

Tie game

A quick 5-0 run for Iowa thanks to an Isaia Howard putback dunk and a Bennett Stirtz 3-pointer. The score is tied at 13 with 10:42 to go in the first half.

Grand Canyon off to stong start

Tyler Tachman

Grand Canyon leads 13-8 with 11:57 to go in the first half.

It feels like Iowa has a little bit of a hangover from the Ole Miss game. The Hawkeyes are playing sloppy offensively and have already turned it over three times. Defense isn’t as tight as it should be, allowing Grand Canyon to go 3-of-6 from deep. The Lopes have had better energy out of the gate.

Rough start for Iowa

Tyler Tachman

Grand Canyon leads 10-6. After failing to make a single 3-pointer in their win over Utah, the Lopes have already hit two against Iowa in the early going. Not a great start defensively for the Hawkeyes. Ben McCollum went to his bench pretty quickly, inserting Isaia Howard and Alvaro Folgueiras for Cam Manyawu and Tavion Banks. Kael Combs has four points for Iowa.
