Breeze Airways has canceled planned flights between Redmond and Burbank, California, even before they were set to start. The service will still be provided, but by Alaska Airlines, the Redmond Airport confirmed Friday.

Flights between the two airports has been operated by Alaska since October.

Breeze does plan to proceed with planned flights between Redmond and Las Vegas, which are scheduled to begin in mid-March, said Jodi Low, Redmond Airport customer service and administrative support.

The airline said in an email to The Bulletin that it didn’t want to cut the service, particularly before it had even started,  but it had to make adjustments to its schedule to maximize resources.  The company had announced in August that it would offer flights from Redmond to Provo, Utah; Las Vegas and Burbank. That announcement came after Avelo pulled out of many of its routes, including all of its flights from Redmond.

Customers who had booked on the Burbank, California to Redmond route have been notified of the change, according to the airline.

Alaska Airlines operates daily flights from Redmond to Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego and Portland, according to the airline’s website. The new routes are part of the airlines plans to connect the Pacific Northwest with California, according to the airline’s statement.

“We’re pleased to share that Alaska Airlines began offering daily nonstop service between Redmond and Burbank as of Oct. 26, ” Low said. “This ensures continued direct access to the Burbank area for Central Oregon travelers.”

Breeze Airways began airline service in 2021 and offers about 170 seasonal and year round routes in 60 cities, according to the website.
