Texas volleyball gets a rematch Monday with rival Texas A&M in the semifinals of the SEC Volleyball Tournament, and the winner will have a chance to become the first SEC tournament champion in 20 years.

The third-seeded Longhorns (22-2) with face No. 2 Texas A&M (23-3) at 8 p.m. The victor will face either Kentucky or Tennessee in Tuesday’s championship match, which will cap the first SEC Tournament since Florida hoisted the trophy in 2006.

Both Texas and the Aggies had two byes in the tournament and didn’t play until Sunday’s quarterfinals, and both squads wasted little time in rolling to 3-0 wins. The Longhorns dispatched 14-seed Ole Miss while the Aggies beat 15-seed Vanderbilt.

In the lone regular-season meeting between the rivals Oct. 31, Texas A&M handed the Longhorns their first loss of the season in a 25-19, 25-23, 17-25, 19-25, 15-13 thriller in College Station.

A rip-roaring start to the third set. Kyndal Stowers (12 kills) is throwing some knockout punches for the Aggies, but six service errors hurt. Torrey Satfford has nine kills to pace Texas. Texas 1, Texas A&M 1.

ESPN’s app may be having some issues keeping up with this match, and so are the Longhorns. Emma Halter triggered a brief sport from the service line, but Logan Lednicky answers with her seventh kill.  Texas 1, Texas A&M 0.

Kyndal Stowers, the younger sister of Vanderbilt star tight end Eli Stowers, gets into the act with her fifth kill, and the Aggies are rolling in the second set. Let’s see if the Longhorns can find an answer. Texas 1, Texas A&M 0.

The Aggies are one of the top blocking teams in the nation, and they’re starting to flex at the net. Three straight blocks, and Texas A&M roars out of the gates to open set two. Texas 1, Texas A&M 0.

Texas OH Abby Vander Wal has a lot of craftiness with her swing, especially for a freshman. She has a team-high four kills, and Torrey Stafford puts down her third kill for set point as the Longhorns hit .321 while winning the first set. Texas 1, Texas A&M 0.

A&M’s Logan Lednicky leads all players with five kills, but Texas setter Ella Swindle (seven assists) is spreading the wealth with four Longhorns having at least two kills.

The Aggies had 15 service errors in yesterday’s win over Vanderbilt, and they already have two costly ones in this first set. They need more from the service line to help keep this potent Texas offense in check.

Jamie Morrison has seen enough. The Aggie coach, who once worked for Texas coach Jerritt Elliott, calls a timeout after Abby Vander Wal rips a cross-court kill for Texas.

Texas has found its blocking in Savannah, which has been an issue all season. Outside hitter Cari Spears has two blocks for Texas early, and four different Longhorns have a kill.

Texas middle Ayden Ames gets the match’s first kill and we’re off in a SEC Tournament semifinal.

With a 30-minute break between matches at the SEC Tournament, third-seeded Texas and second-seeded Texas A&M’s semifinal match will start at approximately 8 p.m. The winner will face top-seeded Kentucky Tuesday for the SEC Tournament title.

Kentucky won its SEC Tournament semifinal against Tennessee 3-1 and advances to Tuesday’s championship match against either Texas or Texas A&M. Brooklyn Deleye the Wildcats’ all-American candidate at outside hitter, powered the Kentucky offense with 22 kills. The Wildcats beat both the Longhorns and Texas A&M while winning the SEC’s regular-season title.
