Police have issued an Amber Alert for 10-month-old Nalaya Crew, believed to be abducted by family member Michelle Hemphill and her boyfriend in Charlotte.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police issued an Amber Alert for a 10-month-old girl believed to have been abducted by a distant family member and her boyfriend in southeast Charlotte.
Nalaya Crew was reported missing at 7:01 p.m. Saturday after she was taken by Michelle Hemphill, 19, and her boyfriend, Timothy Lee Smith Jr., 23, according to CMPD.
The child’s family told police they believe Nalaya is in danger with Hemphill, who is homeless and has no means to provide for the infant.
Hemphill was last seen getting into a blue minivan believed to be driven by Smith near the 6600 block of Monroe Road, police said.
According to police, Nalaya is 2 feet tall, weighs 20 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. Hemphill is 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. Smith is 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs 160 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.
Authorities are asking anyone who sees the suspects or the child to call 911 immediately.
