No. 1 UConn Faces Loyola Chicago Wednesday

STORRS, Conn. – The top-ranked UConn women’s basketball team (2-0) hosts Loyola Chicago (1-1) on Wednesday in Gampel Pavilion at 7:30 p.m. The game will air on truTV and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97.9).

Wednesday is UConn’s Huskies & Heroes game to recognize Veterans Day.

UConn beat Florida State, 99-67, in Gampel Pavilion on Sunday. Graduate student Azzi Fudd had 23 points and five assists and sophomore Sarah Strong had 21 points and nine rebounds to lead the Huskies. UConn scored 42 points off 23 Seminole turnovers. All 12 Huskies available vs. Florida State scored, and UConn had 37 bench points vs. the Seminoles.

Strong was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Monday. Strong averaged 21.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 2.0 blocks per game in two wins last week.

This is the first-ever meeting between the Huskies and Ramblers.

Loyola fell to Green Bay, 55-46, last Thursday. This season, Alex-Anne Bessette is leading the Ramblers with 10.0 points per game. Head coach Allison Guth is in her fourth season at Loyola Chicago.

UConn is ranked No. 1 in the most recent Associated Press poll. The Huskies hold a 485-20 (.960) record when ranked No. 1 in the AP Poll.

UConn will host Ohio State in PeoplesBank Arena on Sunday at noon. The Huskies will unveil their 2025 National Championship banner in Hartford before tipoff. The game will air on peacock and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97.9).
