Bruce Willis appeared in good spirits during a rare beach outing in Los Angeles — a heartwarming sight for fans amid his ongoing battle with frontotemporal dementia.
The Die Hard star, 70, was photographed out for a walk on the beach in Los Angeles on Thursday, November 6, in images obtained by TMZ. Bruce was all smiles as he walked hand-in-hand with a couple pals.
He wore a baseball cap and sunglasses as they strolled along the sand in Santa Monica.
The iconic actor’s public appearances have become increasingly rare since his 2023 diagnosis with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a progressive brain disorder that affects behavior and language.
Bruce’s outing comes one day after his wife, Emma Heming Willis, and ex-wife Demi Moore, stepped out in New York City to honor the Pulp Fiction actor at a star-studded benefit concert hosted by the Soho Sessions.
Famous faces in attendance included Kevin Bacon, his wife Kyra Sedgwick, Whoopi Goldberg, and Michael J Fox.
“Bruce would have loved this. He always loved live music,” Emma told People ahead of the event. “[He’d be excited to see] all of them, because all of them are, you know, his friends. I think that he would’ve definitely got up there and started playing his harmonica. I’m just grateful that they would show up for this. But they also have their special relationship with Bruce.”
Bruce — who shares daughters Rumer, Tallulah and Scout with Demi, and daughters Mabel and Evelyn with Emma — was originally diagnosed with aphasia before, the family announced in 2022.
“Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce’s condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD),” Rumer announced via Instagram that February. “Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces. While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis.”
According to Emma, when Bruce was diagnosed, they were “left with nothing, really; no roadmap, no support, nothing,” she told People on Wednesday.
“What I realized is that there actually is support there.”
