BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – As the Training Coordinator for the Florida Sheriff’s Association I was honored to be teaching at the “Commander’s Academy” that is taking place right now in Tallahassee.

The Commanders Academy is a 3 week academy that is attended by high-ranking command members of Sheriff’s Offices across the state of Florida. I spoke on the topic of modern-day community policing, which is one of the most important topics in our profession.

By engaging our own community through crime prevention and community relations, we’ve been successful in lowering our crime rate by 52% in the past 12 years.

I’d like to thank the Florida Sheriff’s Association for hosting the Commanders Academy and for all they do to support the 67 Sheriff’s Offices throughout the state of Florida.
