First Alert Weather Days ahead for increasing storm chances in Arizona

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — It’s feeling humid on this Tuesday as rain chances increase for our two First Alert Weather Days on Wednesday and Thursday.

Our chances for measurable rain here in the Valley are on the upswing! We will need some help from some outflow winds of decaying thunderstorms to the south and northeast of the Valley later tonight to increase our dewpoints.

Right now, that chance is around 20%, but look for some blowing dust and brief wind gusts overnight.

Because of those storms happening this afternoon south of the Valley, a Flood Watch is in effect until 11 p.m. for much of South Central and Southeastern Arizona.

Daytime highs are just below our average of 107 degrees. Monday’s high of 107 was our first day around average after eight days straight above normal. All but two of those days were below 110 degrees!

Our forecast calls for about a 40% chance of thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday, with a slight chance lingering into Friday. Highs should stay just above the century mark on both of those days with higher dewpoints and hopefully some rain-cooled air.

Expect dry air heading into the weekend, with storms staying north and east of the Valley in the higher elevation areas. Look for hotter temperatures by Sunday.
