Bills rookie Landon Jackson placed on PUP list ahead of 2025 training camp

The Buffalo Bills will begin training camp next Wednesday, but one member of their rookie class may not see the field immediately when practices start.

The NFL’s transaction wire on Tuesday revealed that Buffalo had placed rookie third-round pick Landon Jackson on the active-physically unable to perform (PUP) list.

The defensive end’s injury is unknown as of this writing, but it may not be anything significant. A league source told Syracuse.com’s Matt Parrino that the team is hopeful he’ll be ready for the start of practice next week.

Buffalo drafted Jackson with the No. 72 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. During his collegiate career, Jackson registered 16 sacks and 28 tackles for loss with the Arkansas Razorbacks.

The Bills showed plenty of interest in Jackson during the pre-draft process. The rookie said he had been talking with Buffalo almost daily leading up to the draft. After hearing his name called in the draft, Jackson expressed excitement about his fit in Buffalo’s defense.

“I feel like I’m gonna go in and play instantly and show them that I’m a great pick for them,” Jackson said. “I love the way they have me schemed up. They’ve got me playing true d-end, five-technique, all the way to wide-nine. So, I’m just excited to get out there and get ready to ball.”

Jackson’s addition to the roster was part of the team’s attempt to revamp their defensive end room this offseason. In addition to drafting Jackson, Buffalo also signed Joey Bosa and Michael Hoecht in free agency. The latter will serve a six-game suspension at the start of the season, opening the door for Jackson to play behind Bosa and Greg Rousseau. Other defensive end options on the Bills roster entering training camp include A.J. Epenesa, Javon Solomon, Hayden Harris and Paris Shand.
