Kang Seo-ha dies at 31 after cancer battle

South Korean actress Kang Seo-ha, who appeared in the K-dramas “Heart Surgeons” and “First Love Again,” has died following her battle with stage four stomach cancer.

Kang died at around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, as confirmed in a report by Korean media outlet Sports Kyunghang a day later. Her wake will be held at the funeral hall of the Catholic University of Korea, Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital.

She was working on the film “Magnaein,” where she was cast as the lead. However, she was unable to overcome her condition.

An alum of Korea National University of Arts’ School of Drama and first gained recognition, she first gained prominence after appearing in the music video of Brave Guys’ song “Getting Farther Away” in 2012.

Some of her notable projects include “Heart Surgeons,” “First Love Again,” “Schoolgirl Detectives,” and “Assembly,” to name a few. Her upcoming film “Magnaein” will be released posthumously after her death, although its release date has yet to be announced. /edv
