Vanderbilt baseball signee Slater de Brun to Orioles in 2025 MLB Draft

Slater de Brun, one of Vanderbilt baseball’s top signees, was selected No. 37 overall by the Baltimore Orioles in the first round of the 2025 MLB Draft on July 13 and is likely to sign rather than joining the Commodores.

de Brun, from Bend, Oregon and Summit High School, is a 5-foot-9 outfielder noted for his speed, hitting ability and center field defense and projects as a leadoff hitter. He was ranked the No. 14 player in the 2025 class by Perfect Game and the No. 24 prospect by MLB Pipeline.

Outfield is a position where Vanderbilt lacks depth on its 2025 roster and de Brun being drafted exacerbates that.

The Commodores also saw top commits Seth Hernandez and Sean Gamble selected earlier in the first round of the draft. Vanderbilt has had at least one signee selected in every draft since 2017.
