Brother of Warriors’ 2-time MVP hints strongly at overdue family reunion via free agency

The Golden State Warriors remain the only team through the beginning stages of the 2025 NBA offseason to not make a single move, but that could all change sooner rather than later as the organization aims to support their legendary guard, Stephen Curry.

Golden State’s 4-time NBA champion and 2022 Finals MVP performed spectacularly yet again this past season, contributing 24.5 points and 6.0 assists while boasting a 61.8% true shooting percentage in his 16th campaign.

Though Curry remains one of the best point guards in the NBA heading into his age-38 season in 2025-26, the Warriors should be making a concerted effort to supply the league’s all-time greatest three-point shooter and 2-time league MVP with consistent outside shot-making threats.

If the Warriors’ general manager Mike Dunleavy looks to assist the future Hall of Fame inductee by bringing in more shooting talent, a recent interview conducted by NBC Sports Bay Area’s Monte Poole indicates that the dynastic franchise could stage a historic family reunion if they were to acquire Stephen’s brother and unrestricted free agent guard Seth Curry this summer. Interestingly enough, it’s an idea that the latter of the pair has mulled over for quite some time.

“I feel like I’ve been a part of Dub Nation for a while watching Steph and being around the organization,” Curry shared with Poole on Thursday.

“Obviously, they could use, any team could use shooting. But I can’t say anything other than I’m trying to find the best place for me, and hopefully we’ll figure it out in the next week and figure out where I’ll be going next.”

“Steph would love me to come over there and play with them, the fans show me a lot of love at all times, the family would love it. I’ve always embraced the Warriors and their system and love the way they play, and you never know what could happen.”

By prospectively joining the Warriors in free agency, Seth and Stephen would not only be reunited, but it would mark the union of two of the greatest pure three-point shooters in NBA history.

As a member of the Charlotte Hornets in 2024-25, Seth registered a blistering 45.6% percentage from distance, the highest mark in the league. His unreal efficiency from deep was also paired with averages of 6.5 points and 1.7 rebounds in 68 appearances for the team in his 11th season. Curry’s incredible season further solidified his place as one of the game’s greatest shooters, as the 6-foot-1 shooting guard owns the No. 7 spot on the NBA’s career three-point percentage leaderboard with a 43.3% clip from range spanning 550 contests.

With Seth preparing for year No. 12 at 34 years old, potentially heading to Golden State to reunite with Stephen and elevate the Warriors’ bench rotation could be a perfect decision.

If anything, Curry may pique Golden State’s interest due to the fact that he’s proven to be one of the most underrated playoff risers in league history, as he’s increased his lifetime postseason three-point shooting clip to a ridiculous 46.8%, good for No. 5 on the all-time playoff three-point percentage list.
