Gavin Adcock has been in the headlines quite a bit across the past two weeks after calling Beyoncé out for her “Cowboy Carter” album.
That got him plenty of hate from “Queen B” fans, but Adcock has not backed down. In fact, and apparently to the enjoyment of his fans, he has continued trolling her supporters.
That continued into this week with a video of himself lying in bed that he shared on Instagram Tuesday.
“Well, I was dreaming last night,” Adcock said. “I was thinking about all the people that don’t know what real country music sounds like so I’m going to drop y’all a new one on Friday.
“It’s called ‘Sunset.’”
There were still folks taking their shots at him, but his fans seemed to appreciate it.
“I love that you haven’t apologies for a (expletive) thing it’s amazing,” one person responded.
Adcock has received plenty of attention since video from a recent show was shared to TikTok showing him eviscerating Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” album as he talked to the crowd.
Adcock’s “My Own Worst Enemy” album was fourth on Apple’s Country Music albums chart, but it was behind “Cowboy Carter’ which was third.
“There’s only three people ahead of me on the Apple Country Music charts, and one of them is Beyoncé,” Adcock says in video from a recent show shared to TikTok. “You can tell her we are coming for her (expletive) ass.”
Then he went in on her.
“That (expletive) ain’t country music, and it ain’t ever been country music,” he said to cheers.
Adcock then took to Instagram to add more context to the video.
“I’m going to go ahead and clear this up,” he said. “When I was a little kid, my mama was blasting some Beyoncé in the car. I’ve heard a ton of Beyoncé songs, and I actually remember her Super Bowl halftime show being pretty kick ass back in the day. But I really don’t believe that her album should be labeled as country music. It doesn’t sound country. It doesn’t feel country, and I just don’t think that people that have dedicated their whole lives to this genre and this lifestyle should have to compete or watch that album just stay at the top just because she is Beyoncé.”
