CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Rounds of thunderstorms were possible Wednesday and the next few days in the Charlotte region.

Storms were headed for the Carolinas on Wednesday, July 9. Some areas were under a severe thunderstorm warning by Wednesday evening, while flash watches and warnings were also active in some counties.

Storms arrive Wednesday afternoon

Severe storms were expected to impact parts of the area on Wednesday afternoon and evening. The storms were expected to move slowly and produce heavy rainfall, prompting a flooding concern.

Pattern continues to end the week

The pattern of a dry start to the day and wet afternoons and evenings will continue to end the week.

Expect more potentially severe thunderstorms across the region on Thursday, July 10 and Friday, July 11.

The storms were expected to be even more widespread on Thursday and Friday, compared to Wednesday.

Smaller rain chances this weekend

By this weekend, a more typical summertime pattern will return.

Temperatures each afternoon will reach the low to mid-90s.

There will be chances for scattered showers and thunderstorms over the weekend, but not as widespread as the end of the workweek.
