LEXINGTON — Brayden Fogle will play college football between the hedges.

Fogle, Lexington’s four-star tight end prospect, committed to the University of Georgia via social media Friday.

The rising senior chose Georgia over Penn State and LSU.

“The biggest thing for me was their standard that they set down there to be great was motivating, inspiring,” Fogle told Dawgs247. “It’s just pushing you to be the best, and they do that very well.

“It’s the standard and how well they develop people.”

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Fogle helped Lexington reach the third round of the Division III playoffs last fall. He caught 59 passes for 792 yards and five touchdowns, earning a spot on the All-Ohio first team as a receiver.

“He’s a tremendous athlete,” Lex coach Andrew Saris said. “He has a skill set to do some really crazy things.”

Lexington qualified for the playoffs last year as the No. 12 seed in Region 10. The Minutemen won back-to-back road games before falling to eventual state runner-up Toledo Central Catholic in the regional semifinals.

Fogle caught four passes for 136 yards while matched up against TCC’s Victor Singleton, a Texas A&M recruit.

Fogle was also a heralded basketball recruit, earning his first basketball offer before he was in high school.

“He came in with a lot of expectations which can’t be easy for any young kid,” Saris said. “He does a good job of managing expectations. He’s one of those kids who does the right things.

“He’s obviously a tremendous athlete and he’s also a great student, too.”

The Minutemen are expecting big things again this fall. Fogle will be paired with quarterback Joe Caudill, a Michigan State recruit, who will also play tight end in college.

“We’re excited about the possibility of doing some good things this fall,” Saris said. “Brayden has the capability to dominate every play and I have no doubt that he will continue to improve and be the leader that I know he is.”
