LL COOL J is walking away from Friday’s Wawa Welcome America concert in light of the AFSCME District Council 33 strike in Philadelphia.
In an Instagram post posted late on Thursday night, LL COOL J explained that he does not want to cross the picket line.
“I never ever ever want to disappoint my fans,” he said in the post. “There is absolutely no way I can perform across a picket line.”
The rapper said that he will be in the city and hopes that a resolution is made between Philadelphia leaders and the union.
If a deal is reached between the two parties, LL COOL J said that he will perform on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway on Friday, July 4.
NBC10 has reached out to the city of Philadelphia for comment. We are waiting to hear back.
Welcome America refused to comment on the situation.
