Marquette prepares to host Fourth of July celebrations

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – The Fourth of July promises to be a great time across the country.

The city of Marquette has a full lineup of events planned for Friday.

Every year, thousands of people flock to Marquette for the holiday, ready to celebrate and have a good time.

Two of the event organizers say this year’s celebration is shaping up to be one of the best yet.

Fireworks are set to take place July 3 at dusk, with a Fourth of July laser light show on the Ore Dock.

“All day July 3, you can listen to live music,” Marquette Fireworks Committee Interim President Natalie Kretlow said.

“The parade starts at 2 p.m.,” Marquette Kiwanis Parade Director Bob Anderson said. “We have a record number of bands. We have seven bands this year.”

This year marks the 35th annual parade. You’re encouraged to arrive at least two hours early to grab a good parking spot.
