First-round action at Wimbledon wraps up on Tuesday, when Alex Michelsen and Corentin Moutet make relatively quick turnarounds following their exploits in Mallorca. Michelsen meets Miomir Kecmanovic, while Moutet awaits Francisco Comesana.
(30) Alex Michelsen vs. Miomir Kecmanovic
Michelsen and Kecmanovic will be squaring off for the third time in their careers and for the third time this season when they clash in round one at Wimbledon on Tuesday afternoon. They split their two previous encounters; Kecmanovic prevailed 7-6(3), 6-3 on the hard courts of Delray Beach before Michelsen won 6-4, 6-2 on the red clay of the Estoril Challenger.
This should be a fun one between two players who have enjoyed some success on grass in the past, but it is a surface that definitely favors Michelsen. The 20-year-old American is already a two-time finalist on the green stuff, finishing runner-up twice in Newport, and he reached the Mallorca semis this past week. Meanwhile, Kecmanovic is winless on grass so far this summer–with immediate exits from both Halle and Eastbourne. The 49th-ranked Serb is among the more dangerous unseeded floaters, but Michelsen’s serve and backhand should make the difference.

Francisco Comesana vs. Corentin Moutet
Moutet is playing the best tennis of his career right now. Perhaps the difference is that–as we witnessed during an emotional Mallorca trophy ceremony–he actually cares about results rather than just putting on a show for the fans. The Frenchman reached the fourth round of the Rome Masters, upset Taylor Fritz at Queen’ Club after qualifying for the main draw, and finished runner-up in Mallorca this past Saturday. The 26-year-old lefty has been rewarded with a return trip to the top 70 for his efforts.
Tuesday marks the first-ever showdown between Moutet and Comesana. It is a matchup featuring two guys who don’t have a ton of firepower but find other ways to win with less obvious tools in the toolshed. Comesana was doing a great job of that earlier in the 2025 campaign, but now he is just 1-5 in his last six matches dating back to the Madrid Masters. Moutet definitely has the edge in current form and you have to think he is more comfortable on grass–even though Comesana made a surprise appearance in the Wimbledon third round last year.
