It was the ultimate meeting of Hollywood royalty and British royalty on Tuesday as Amal and George Clooney made a surprise appearance at Buckingham Palace. While rubbing shoulders with winners of the 2025 King’s Trust Awards on June 25, the A-list couple was also spotted laughing and chatting with King Charles during the celebratory event.
Despite appearances, it wasn’t a first-time Clooney and Windsor meet-cute, as George and Amal have fostered a close relationship with the royal family over the years. And the smiling trio looked friendly and relaxed during their latest reunion, with the Clooneys seemingly chuckling at King Charles’s comments as they stood next to makeup maven Charlotte Tilbury in a video shared by the Royal Family’s Instagram account.

Fresh off his Tony Awards debut, a clean-shaven George’s salt-and-pepper hair was back to normal for his Buckingham Palace visit. The Good Night, and Good Luck actor looked dapper in a slate gray suit, which he styled with an undone gray dress shirt for a more casual vibe. Meanwhile, Amal stylishly tweaked the classic LBD in a fitted off-the-shoulder black dress with knotted details just below her exposed collarbones.

The human rights lawyer, who held her husband’s hand during the reception, wore her signature caramel-woven brunette hair in a side-parted style with lots of volume and softly-curled pieces framing her face. Sculpted cheeks, a matte mauve lips, and smudged brown eyeshadow finished off her royal outing.

The Clooneys—who were also photographed chatting with the trust’s CEO Will Straw as well as fellow winner Alice Ngitira—previously visited Buckingham Palace in 2019 for the same event. They were also spotted with then-Prince Charles at the time, with Amal stunning in a white gown while the Casamigos founder suited up with a black bow tie.
One year earlier, the Clooneys were among the star-studded attendees at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding at Windsor Castle. It appeared that Meghan and Amal grew close as the former Suits actress began spending more time in the U.K., with a source telling People at the time, “Amal has been helping Meghan settle into London life. It was a very natural friendship from day one.”
