$2M Powerball ticket sold in Superior, Wisconsin

A Powerball ticket sold in Superior on July 12 marks the state’s second win in two weeks.

SUPERIOR, Wis. — A Powerball ticket from the July 12 drawing is putting $2 million in the pocket of a shopper in northwestern Wisconsin. This is the second winning ticket for two weekends in a row for the state.

According to the Wisconsin Lottery press release, the ticket was sold at the Super One at 2202 E. 2nd St. in Superior.  Last weekend, Festival Foods in Appleton, Wisconsin, sold another winning ticket for the July 5 drawing.

The release states that Wisconsin was the only state on July 12 to register a winning ticket with five matching numbers. That means the winner got five numbers correctly (8-16-24-33-54) but missed the Powerball (18).

Despite that, a Power Play feature on the ticket doubled the initial $1 million, bringing the win up to $2 million. The player has 180 days from the draw date to claim their prize.

Harbor View Super One will also receive $40,000 for selling a winning ticket over $599.
